Aluminum is the third most common metal in the environment. It is also a toxin in our bodies. Where do you find aluminum? Maybe an easier question would be– where DON’T you find aluminum. But this is no joke. You will find it in processed foods (often as part of baking soda), antiperspirants, antacids, cosmetics, paper, pop cans, foil and cooking pots and pans (including pans that have “non-stick finishes”).
WHO (the World Health Organization) conducted a study re chemical pollution and the elderly, stating “There is a suspected link between Alzheimer’s disease and the toxicity of aluminum…autopsies have found high concentrations of the metal in the brain of people who had suffered from the disease.” (Public Health Reports, Nov-Dec 1992 v108 n6 p798(2)
“Aluminum-containing antiperspirants are designed to be absorbed, and studies show that regular use of these products can raise the risk of Alzheimer’s by as much as three-fold. (also)…municipal water supplies treated with alum (aluminum phosphate)…at least 7 studies show that people drinking water high in alum are more likely to develop Alzheimer’s.”
(Natural Health, May-June 1993 v23 n3 p54(2))
“Studies linking aluminum to Alzheimer’s Disease…:the evidence is strong enough that the prudent person will eliminate all food and cosmetic sources of aluminum and will use aluminum cooking utensils only if they’re coated,” suggests Gary Price Todd, MD, author of Nutrition, Health, and Disease.” Natural Health May-June 1992 v23 n3 p54(2)
Dr. Daniel Perl, Director of Neuropathology of Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, suggests, “….avoid aerosol antiperspirants. Aluminum in aerosol form may be more readily absorbed into the brain through nasal passages.” The University of California, Berkeley Wellness Letter, April 1993 v9 n7 p1(2)
Did you know that in the USA, Alzheimer’s Disease is the 4th LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH FOR THE ELDERLY just behind heart disease, cancer and stroke. Just around 50 years ago, Alzheimer’s was extremely rare.
I’m a granny and I want the safest, most healthful products and information to pass on to my grandchild. These are some of the items that I keep Alyza stocked with (you won’t find Aluminum, SLS, SLES, Anti-freeze or other possible carcinogens in any of these, I promise).
