Now that we are on the topic of unsafe substances, it is time to bring up that great bogie of all time– the substance that our Western Society almost reveres, the substance that is in every household in some form or other:
ALCOHOL!
And I don’t mean just booze. Did you know that in general, mouthwash has a higher alcohol content than beer, wine, and many liquors??
DANGER: When you take alcohol into your mouth, it acts as a solvent and makes the mouth tissues more vulnerable to other substances that can cause cancers to form. Men who use strong, (traditional brands of) alcohol-containing mouthwash with a 25% content of alcohol have a 60% higher risk of getting cancer and women have a 90% higher risk than men and women who don’t use alcohol-containing mouthwash. (National Cancer Institute 4/22/91)
Many of the mouthwash makers have responded by lowering their alcohol levels… but have they lowered them enough? And what are they substituting? Check it out.
What does alcohol do when it is applied or absorbed in other areas of the body?
Could it make the tissues more vulnerable to cancer-causing chemicals? Use your logic– don’t depend on Big Pharma and the other Big Businesses to make good choices for your health– for the health of your children and grandchildren.
I’m a granny and I want the safest, most healthful products and information to pass on to my grandchild. These are some of the items that I keep Alyza stocked with (you won’t find alcohol, anti-freeze or other possible carcinogens in any of these, I promise).
