It’s a rainy day today and I’m missing my little munchkins… while I was having a shower in the bathroom that they use when they visit I decided that I would hang pictures of the two little bathing beauties on a space above the commode that is currently vacant. I think I will either have them framed with a sort of maple finished wood, or maybe get the decoupage-type finish.
Last week we had a call from the rug cleaners asking if they could do our rug for free in exchange for some referrals to friends. My husband took the call.
The upshot is that we DID have our rug done, and a fine job it was too (friends out there– please use this service! Call and we’ll give you the information). The guy showed us all the gunk that came from the carpet after we had vacuumed (supposedly??) with our cheap-o little cannister, and also vacuumed the dead skin from our mattress (eeeew). Did we buy the vacuum cleaner they were REALLY SELLING? Well, remember, my husband took the call. He showed the fellow how much the vacuum was selling for on EBay (about 1/5 of their cost– over $2000) and then the unexpected happened. The cleaner/salesman said, “Thank you , thank you! I KNOW this is an excellent vacuum but I really hate trying to strongarm older folks who are either senile or on a fixed income… this gives me a way out!” And he left quite pleased with himself. It was a very weird sort of WIN-WIN situation. Take a look at the brand and when you do your research, you will find that they do get an excellent consumer rating on the internet:
I’m feeling a little behind the eight-ball today (not quite sure what that means exactly– some sort of snookers metaphor to mean that one feels pressured?). I have my Toastmasters meeting tonight with some big-wig in attendance and am down to do an evaluation of one of the speakers. I’m not sure where the anxiety is pouring in from, but I WILL deal with it. Part of the problem is that I am ’stuck in’ to learning some business stuff and I really don’t feel like going to the meeting… so maybe it is not so much ‘pressure’ as ‘resentment’. Well, I can deal with that as well.
In the meantime, I think I shall have a cup of tea. I have a number of lovely teacups in my cupboards (courtesy of my mother and grandmothers) and am going to rinse one out and use it for the tea… join me? If you don’t have any gorgeous teacups, here are some lovely ones to peruse and order (Warning:teacup collecting is a passion among some):
A few days ago I got a chain email asking me to swap recipes… should receive something like 35. They were supposed to be recipes that the sender pretty much “knew by heart”, using few ingredients, and ones that aren’t “rare” (although I guess that what is ‘rare’ for me might be common to someone from another culture? For example, today’s recipe contains Durkey’s French Fried Onion Rings… I don’t think those are available in Canada). Today’s sender (B.R.) has raised the bar, nutrition-wise, from yesterday’s sugar-y yumyums. :=) It’s really interesting to see what people look to as their special ‘comfort foods’ (because I think this is what these recipes reflect, don’t you?)

Moving right along with the Recipe Swap by Chain email…
Here is a recipe that gives me a tooth ache just to read it…lol… but haven’t we all got one of these firmly memorized for those times when we are alone and maybe feeling a little lonely…all I can say is, brush your teeth well afterwards and drink lots of water. Thanks Bill!
*1/2 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
*1 bag of Hersey’s ( or Nestles) chips (whatever flavor you wish)
*1/4 bag of Nestle’s Premier White Morsels
*1/2 bag (or 1 can) of shredded coconut- actually - just pick which chips you want and try the quantities to fit your palate.
Put the first 3 ingredients into a microwave safe bowl and heat for 1 minute.
Stir in the coconut.Pour into a buttered dish and place into the refrigerator for about 2 hours.
Cut into squares and serve.
Store in refrigerator as these don’t get hard.Enjoy,
